Every baptized Christian is called to ministry. Find your place to serve.
The ministry of lay persons is to represent Christ and his Church; to bear witness to him wherever they may be; and, according to the gifts given them, to carry on Christ's work of reconciliation in the world. There are many ways to put your faith into action here at St. Alban's — we invite you to find yours.
Parish Governance
The Vestry is the governing body of the parish, working alongside the clergy to guide the spiritual and temporal life of St. Alban's. Vestry members are elected by the congregation and serve three-year terms, overseeing finances, property, and parish policy.
Financial Stewardship
The Finance Committee assists the Vestry in developing and monitoring the annual parish budget, reviewing financial statements, and ensuring faithful stewardship of the resources entrusted to St. Alban's Parish.
Facilities & Property
This committee oversees the care and maintenance of the church buildings and grounds, coordinating repairs, landscaping, and special projects to ensure St. Alban's remains a beautiful and welcoming place for all who gather here.
Community Service
The The John Earl Outreach Roundtable coordinates and supports St. Alban's mission in the wider community through the John Earl Outreach Roundtable, directing fundraising efforts and volunteer participation with local and global partner organizations.
Worship Ministry
Acolytes serve at the altar during Sunday worship, assisting the clergy and helping lead the congregation in reverent worship. Open to youth in 6th grade and above, acolytes carry the cross, torches, and Gospel book — a meaningful and visible form of service to the parish.
Contact the parish office to learn more.
Sacred Preparation
The Altar Guild prepares and maintains the sanctuary for worship, caring for the sacred vessels, linens, candles, and seasonal decorations. This ministry of quiet service ensures that every worship service is conducted with beauty and reverence. Meetings are held regularly throughout the year.
Musical Worship
St. Alban's offers several ways to serve through music: the Parish Choir (adult voices), the Oxford Ringers (handbell choir), Genesis Ringers (beginner handbells), and CantorKids (children's choir). All are led by Director of Music Tammy Shook.

Sacramental Ministry
Licensed by the Bishop, Lay Eucharistic Ministers assist the clergy in administering the bread and wine at Holy Eucharist. They may also carry communion to parishioners who are homebound, hospitalized, or otherwise unable to worship in person.
Women's Prayer Ministry
The Order of the Daughters of the King is an order for women who commit to a Rule of Life incorporating the Rule of Prayer and the Rule of Service. The Order seeks to strengthen the spiritual life of its members and spread Christ's Kingdom among all women. Contact the parish office for information about St. Alban's chapter.
Community Life
Hospitality volunteers organize and host coffee hour after Sunday services, coordinate parish meals and receptions, and help welcome newcomers and visitors. A warm welcome is one of the most important gifts a parish can offer.
Education & Discipleship
Volunteers help lead Sunday school for children and adults, facilitate small group Bible studies, and support formation programs throughout the year. No theological degree required — just a willingness to grow in faith alongside others.
Prayer & Pastoral Care
Members knit or crochet shawls that are prayed over and given to parishioners and community members in times of illness, grief, or need. This hands-on prayer ministry offers comfort and tangible expressions of God's love to those who are hurting.
We'd love to help you find the right place to serve. Reach out to the parish office and we'll connect you with the right people.
